Granite is a heterogeneous rock in which such minerals as quartz, mica, feldspar and augite may be distinguished. It is created in the process of crystallization of magma. Granite is a rock composed of heterogenic crystals of different sizes. It occurs in a variety of colors and shades of which grey, yellow, green, red and brown are the most often found. The original colors and granite texture may be easily exposed in the process of polishing.
Granite is characterized by low porosity and water absorption, which is in turn connected with high frost resistance. It is a hard stone with high wearing resistance. Granite is scratch and aggressive chemical compounds occurring in polluted environment. It is fissile and easily polished, thanks to which it may serve as a material for elements of any dimensions and shapes. It does not absorb fat and oils, and is characterized by high acid resistance.
Due to its durability granite is used as a decorative stone indoor and outdoor. It is a very good material for high-traffic places; therefore it may be applied in public utilities buildings.
It makes: window-sills, indoor/outdoor stairs, terrace tiles, floor tiles in rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, kitchen worktops, vanity tops, wall tiles, also in food preparation areas, fireplaces, and parts of tables or cupboards.
